The Margate Country Club bridge section plays duplicate bridge every Monday and Friday. Play takes place in the club’s main hall which has lovely views of the palm-scattered golf course. Players are to meet at 12h30 for 13h00. You do not have to be a member of Margate Country Club to play bridge and visitors are always welcome, irrespective of playing experience. You can just arrive to play on the day.
Serious bridge playing takes place during each session with computerised scoring available to all corners. Immediately after the session hand records and scores are distributed to all players. Members pay R30,00 per session and non-members R40,00, which includes tea and coffee and a reasonable snack.
The Margate Country Club bridge section also hosts the very popular South Coast Open Pairs Tournament every year in September. The bridge section is a member of the Lower South Coast Bridge Association. Players taking up bridge membership at the club also become members of the KwaZulu Natal Bridge Union.
